Montgomery native, daughter of Chris Sabo does TV coverage for Cincinnati Reds
MONTGOMERY, Ohio — Montgomery residents may recognize a face on the Cincinnati Reds pregame and postgame shows on Bally Sports Ohio as one of their own.
Annie Sabo, 29, helps preview and recap Reds games on the network. Now a resident of Tampa, Florida, Sabo grew up and lived for 15 years on Stonemeadow Lane. She is the daughter of former Reds third baseman and National League Rookie of the Year Chris Sabo, now the head baseball coach at the University of Akron. Annie has two younger sisters, Brooke and Olivia. She remembers favorite moments from her youth.
“We loved Carlo and Johnny’s on special occasions. We rode our bikes to the Montgomery Kroger weekly and got ice cream. We used to practice tennis at the Swaim Park courts,” she said.
While her father was swinging a big bat for the 1990 World Series champions, Sabo would choose another sport. She played tennis for Ursuline Academy (she is a 2011 graduate) after completing grade school at Seven Hills.
After leaving Montgomery, Sabo attended Chris’s alma mater, the University of Michigan, and then began her television career in Corpus Christi, Texas. She came to Bally Sports Ohio from Bally Sports Minnesota. This is her first time in the Cincinnati area since high school.
Sabo and Kevin Roy married earlier this year. He is a golfer on the Korn Ferry Tour. They live in Tampa with their dog, a Shiba Inu named Corona.
