SMU Cox helps present 1st Mustang Mile for Dallas community
DALLAS — It all started at 6024 Airline Road…the street address of Moody Coliseum on the SMU campus next to the amazing sculpture of the wild mustangs. The 1st annual Mustang Mile event that took place on May 5 was created to bring our amazing community together for a fun, yet competitive, one mile run, walk, and of course, party. If you’ve ever been to the Boulevard Tailgate before a football game, you know that SMU knows how to plan a “throwdown”.
The Mustang Mile did not disappoint. A sold-out field of 800 runners, walkers, and party-only participants attended this year’s event. Presented by Crow Holdings with the SMU Cox School of Business as partner, 100% of the proceeds from the race will go to the SMU Cox Scholarship Fund. The organization committee is made up of Cox MBA students, but the creator and Organizer in Chief of the event is Stacy Mullikin. Stacy, an HP resident and mother of four, met her husband at SMU. She is a 25-year veteran in the fitness industry, a former All-American triathlete, and was voted Texas Coach of the Year by Competitor magazine.
“I wanted to create a fresh, fun, new race…a way to bring our amazing Dallas community together,” says Stacy. That’s when the SMU Mustang Mile came to life. Can’t wait for next year’s event! Go Ponies!
