Decatur fitness competitor Amy Mazzotti places 3rd in Branch Warren Classic
DECATUR, Ill. — Amy Mazzotti is the owner of A-Team Bootcamp in Decatur. The path to owning her dream business started with Amy’s own weight loss journey in 2012. At the time, she had no idea that she would eventually be inspiring countless others to start pursuing a healthier lifestyle. Amy is a 2018 graduate of Millikin University with a degree in Business and Organizational Leadership. Her philosophy is that “everyone should set goals, accomplish them, then move on to even higher goals, becoming the best version of themselves”.
As a part of her own self-improvement journey, Amy took on a whole new challenge in 2022. In 2021, her dear friend Korina Diaz (originally from Decatur) competed in the NPC Phil Heath Classic. Korina challenged Amy to enter a competition as well. Amy decided to give it her all and began training in January with Korina and her husband, Marcello Spencer. Because Korina and Marcello reside in San Antonio TX, Amy had to train using their online program, Top Notch Training. She entered the 2022 NPC Branch Warren Classic Women’s Wellness Masters 35+ and True Novice Division, held June 25th in Houston, TX.
Her training regimen could be brutal, but she was amazed at her body was capable of in such a short amount of time. “I have pushed through a crazy work and workout schedule and accomplished the impossible,” Amy said. “Consistency was most definitely key.” Weekdays, Amy would coach ladies at A-Team from 4-9am. At 9 she would head to the Decatur Indoor Sports Center (DISC) and do an hour of cardio on the Stairmaster. She would head home afterward to fuel her body, rest, and spend time with her boyfriend and daughter. From 1pm-3pm she would return to the DISC to do weight training. After stopping home to eat again she would return to A-Team to coach from 3:30-6:30pm followed by another hour on the Stairmaster. After evening cardio, she would sit in her sauna for 30 min, eat, shower, and sleep. Weekends were reserved for cardio workouts alone.
The demands of a grueling workout regimen like hers required strict, high-quality nutrition. She changed her eating habits completely. “I am on a high protein diet eating mainly egg whites, grilled chicken, ground turkey, fish, spinach, green beans, and asparagus,” said Amy. “This has been the hardest part of my training because I continue to cook my family all of their favorites while I stick to my 4-5 meals a day, eating the same thing over and over.”
“My goal was to see how strong I can truly be, continue to level up in every aspect of my life, and inspire others to accomplish their goals,” Amy said. Daily, she would document her progress and check in on all of her social media accounts to help hold herself accountable. This gave her a huge following, people from all over the country cheering her on. Amy’s supporters were overjoyed with the news that she won 3rd place in the True Novice Division. Amy says God has blessed her in every way. “This is why I give 100% every single day. I have overcome so much in my life and achieved what seemed impossible. I do not take one day for granted. Faith without works is dead.”
