Webster University golfer Will Hocker named St. Louis Male Athlete of the Year
ST. LOUIS — Will Hocker of the Webster University Golf team has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Male Athlete of the Year.
Hocker, a graduate student out of Grapevine, Texas, had a record book season for the Webster golf team. He won seven tournaments on the year and finished the with a 70.45 scoring average. His 70.45 scoring average was the lowest in all of NCAA Division III Men’s Golf. He won his second SLIAC Men’s Golf Individual Championship and was named the SLIAC Men’s Golfer of the Year for the second time in his career. He helped guide his team to their fifth straight, and 11th overall, SLIAC Championship and finished as the runner-up at the 2022 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf National Championship. He was named First Team All-SLIAC, PING First Team All-Region, PING First Team All-American, and won the 2022 NCAA Division III Jack Nicklaus Award.
In addition to Hocker, Chaz Aldridge (Blackburn), Ian Milsteadt (Eureka), Nick Glaser (Fontbonne), CJ Anderson (Greenville), Daniel Gomez (Principia), Noah McClellan (Spalding), and Landon Harrison (Westminster) were all nominated for the award. The award was voted on by the Sports Information Directors in the conference.
Rylee Stafford of Fontbonne (Mo.) University was named the Female Student Athlete of the Year.
