NEW YORK (BVM) — In a recent conversation between Cam Newton and Eli Manning, Manning was asked who would be his dream personnel to attempt a game-winning drive.
Manning has played with some good running backs in his time including Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw, but the easy answer was Tiki Barber.
Who is Tiki Barber?
Barber grew up in Roanoke, Virginia later attending the University of Virginia. He would quickly become a star for the Cavaliers, winning the ACC Player of the Year in 1996 and later having his jersey number retired by the program.
He was selected in the second round of the 1997 NFL Draft by the New York Giants where he spent his entire nine-year career. He was first-team All-Pro in 2005 and made three Pro Bowls throughout his career. He is now a member of the New York Giants Ring of Honor.
Barber accumulated over 15,000 total yards along with 67 touchdowns throughout his career.
Tiki Barber’s brother
As great and accomplished as Tiki was, his sibling may have been better. Ronde, Tiki’s identical twin brother, also starred at Virginia before making his way to the NFL. After being selected by the Buccaneers in the 1997 draft, Ronde played 15 years in Tampa Bay where he was regarded as one of the best cornerbacks in the league. Ronde was first-team All-Pro three times and second-team All-Pro twice.
What does Tiki Barber do now?
After spending a few years in various media roles with NBC including an analyst for Sunday Night Football and a correspondent for Today, he went to the radio side of things. Barber currently hosts Tiki & Tierney with Brandon Tierney on CBS Sports Radio.
He has also made various TV appearances on shows such as The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Orange is the New Black, Iron Chef America, and others.
Tiki Barber’s wife and children
Barber married his first wife in 1999 and they had four children. In 2010, they separated. Barber is currently married to his second wife, Traci Johnson, and they have two kids together, Brooklyn and Teagan.
