Markiese King of ‘Last Chance U’ Season 4; where is he now?
EDMOND, Okla. (BVM) – Markiese King came on to the Netflix series ‘Last Chance U’ during season four. He was a wide receiver for Independence Community College and played for the Pirates for two seasons.
The Netflix series took a dive into his sophomore season at Independence. King was well liked by his team and was one of the most talented players the Pirates had on their roster.
Throughout the show, viewers watched King struggle to keep his grades up and battle through injuries. The show also gave a glimpse into what King was dealing with as far as his mother’s illness. King spent a lot of time taking care of his mother and it was one of the reasons his grades would slip even back in high school. Unfortunately, King’s mother passed away in 2019.

He was also kicked off the team prior to the final game of the 2018 season but many disagreed with the decision. King didn’t let that stop him from continuing to pursue his football career after ‘Last Chance U’ and he eventually found a place on the University of Central Oklahoma football team.

Even with multiple concussions as well as other injuries, he still had 41 passes for 804 yards and seven touchdowns during his time with the Pirates. King showcased the same talent at ICC that originally had Division I colleges interested in him at South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas.
At South Oak Cliff during his senior year, King had 50 receptions for 868 yards and 9 touchdowns. Those stats helped the Bears go 9-4 that season and make a deep run in the playoffs.
King just finished his junior year at UCO and made All-MIAA Honorable Mention. The former ‘Last Chance U’ star racked up 665 receiving yards and five touchdowns on just 40 receptions. King’s talent has never been in question since high school and now that he has a place to show that talent, his senior year with the Bronchos should be a good one.
