Old Dominion University football ready for most competitive schedule in history
NORFOLK, Va. — Old Dominion University (ODU) football is bigger and better than ever. The Monarch nation is excited for the best schedule in the program’s history.
The Monarchs open their 2022 season on September 2, the Friday night of Labor Day weekend, hosting Virginia Tech at Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium. In 2018, ODU stunned the number 13-ranked Hokies 49-35.
This season, ODU will play eight teams that qualified for bowl games in 2021, including three at home: Virginia Tech, Marshall and Liberty. Additionally, the Monarchs will host a total of six regular season home games this year: two each in September, October and November.
The last regular season home game will be against the James Madison University Dukes. The last time the Dukes played in Norfolk was in 2011 — a thrilling game with a 23-20 ODU victory.
ODU football is a team to follow this fall, and S.B. Ballard Stadium is the place to be. Go Monarchs!
