6. Mathias Barnwell, TE, Riverbend
Another elite two-way player, Barnwell was a force for the Riverbend Bears last fall. As an all-region tight end and defensive end, the 6-foot-6, 250-pound athlete proved his worth on both sides of the ball, but it was his work offensively that made him stand out. Catching six touchdowns for the 9-3 Bears, Barnwell earned first-team VHSL all-state honors at tight end and earned the attention of many DI programs. However, after originally decommitting from Penn State earlier in 2021, the junior would recommit to the program in the fall bringing the state’s best player at the position to Happy Valley.
