Amberly Anacondas swim team recaps season with most participants yet

CARY, N.C. — The Amberly Anacondas swim team finished our 2022 season at the end of July. It was a great season of improving swim strokes, making new friends, and competing against area neighborhoods.

In 2022, we saw our largest team yet, with 241 swimmers joining the team! Because of our large numbers, we introduced a Saturday morning meet option for our newest and youngest swimmers. This was a big hit! Look for the Saturday swim option to continue in coming seasons.

Our swimmers improved their swim strokes and times as the season progressed. Under the tutelage of head coach, Jason Foster, as well as assistant coaches Oliver McCann, Emma Molne, Maeve McCann, Will Hicks, and Nya Folk, our kids learned the mechanics of backstroke, freestyle, butterfly, and breaststroke. The freestyle relays at the meets continued to be a swimmer favorite!

Swim team is a great opportunity to make new friends and to see old friends. Hours of swim team practice and hours at the meets gave our swimmers ample opportunity to visit together while having fun, eating snacks, and learning more about being an Anaconda.

The Anacondas finished our season with four wins and two losses. Overall, however, the real winner was the team! After years without a “normal” swim season, this season exceeded expectations. Our parents and kids stepped up and worked super hard to make this season both normal and amazing. We even had a parent’s relay swim at the last two home meets!  We would not have made it without everyone doing their part to make the season happen!
