FORT MYERS, Fla. — Five-star Lehigh Senior High School running back Richard Young announced that he plans to play for the University of Alabama.
“For the next 3 to 4 years, I will be taking my talents and academics to the University of Alabama,” the running back said in an Instagram post. “Roll Tide!”
This decision was highly anticipated after Young narrowed down his top three choices to Alabama, Georgia, and Oregon.
Young has been long rated as the number one running back in the class of 2023. Many colleges with strong football programs sought out Young. In January, he received visits from Nick Saban, Georgia’s Kirby Smart, Ohio State’s Ryan Day, Florida’s Billy Napier and Clemson’s Dabo Swinney all in one day.
Young posted a heartfelt thank you to his loved ones on Instagram.
“I want to start off by thanking the man above because without him nothing will be possible,” he said. “Second, I want to thank my parents for everything they have done for me and the sacrifice they made for me to be where I am today. I want to thank my coaches for pushing me and making sure I’m always on the right track and working to be great every day. I also want to thank friends and loved ones for pushing me and supporting me through this long process.”
We are excited to see all that Young does in the coming years! Congrats, Richard!
