Get to know Byron Nelson volleyball player, Trophy Club area resident Morgan Inemer

TROPHY CLUB, Texas — Byron Nelson High School Sophmore, Morgan Emily Inemer, tells us how her parents play a significant role in her success in athletics and academics: “They are my number one supporters and are always there for me during a good or bad game; and a good or bad grade. I can always count on them to advise and listen to me when I need them.”

Background

When I was young, my parents encouraged me to try several sports and figure out what I enjoyed playing the most. So I started playing volleyball in the 1st grade with my cheer team, and during that first game, I fell in love with it. Now eight years later, I’m playing club volleyball for Madfrog and varsity at Byron Nelson High School.

Achievements

The achievement I’m most proud of is being voted District 6A Volleyball newcomer of the year and getting the most improved player for the BN varsity 2021 season.

Teammates

The qualities I value in a teammate are their willingness to improve, always coming prepared and with a positive attitude, holding themselves and others accountable, and most of all, being kind to everyone and making the game fun. In addition, a great classmate is friendly to others, and a good listener always completes their classwork and puts in their best effort.

Sports Hero

My sports hero is Paige Flickenger, who previously went to Byron Nelson and won the 2019 state championship. As a 7th grader watching that journey made me want to accomplish something that great and have kids looking up to me as a volleyball player. She also inspired me to continue playing as an outside hitter and to keep working on my skill to get even better.

Teams & College

My favorite college team is Penn State. I have always wanted to go there since I was a little girl. Most of my family has gone there, so I always go to football games which are so fun to watch. But, growing up, I have looked more into their volleyball program, a top 20 program in the nation. They have great coaches/staff, and their training facilities are some of the nicest in the country.

Rituals

My superstition is I always have to put on my gear a particular way: my right leg first, then my ankle brace, my kneepad, and then my shoe. Then, I do my left leg in the same order.

School

My favorite subject in school is Science because of how interesting it is, and every time we learn something, it constantly challenges my mind. Qualities I admire in my favorite coaches and teachers are respectfulness, supportiveness, observance, clear communication, patience, positivity, and always challenging me to get better.
