Annual Poway Rodeo returns to rodeo grounds on Tierra Bonita Road
SAN DIEGO — After a two-year hiatus, the highly anticipated 49th Annual Poway Rodeo is back on September 23–24 at the rodeo grounds on Tierra Bonita Road.
All the crowd favorites will return, including junior barrels, junior rodeo, steer wrestling, mutton busting and bull riding, along with a new and exciting event, breakaway roping. Kid’s Buck Day will also be held on Saturday: kids enter a fun zone for only one dollar and can have fun playing in a bounce house, climbing castle and obstacle course. The Friday and Saturday night performances are also back—after the rodeo, stay for the Rodeo Jam, an event for ages 21 and up.
The rodeo supports local charities and generously gives back to the community. Proceeds from ticket sales will help support many worthwhile causes, including the nonprofit, Sam’s Posse.
The Round-Up Rodeo created by Sam’s Posse will take place in the main rodeo arena on Saturday, September 24 at 10:00 am. This is a free event for individuals with intellectual or developmental challenges. Registration is required and can be found on the main rodeo website.
Rodeo organizers are still looking for many volunteers for this exciting weekend. If you can help or would like additional information about the weekend’s events, please visit their website, www.powayrodeo.com.
