Bryce Mitchell’s continued progression towards UFC stardom
LAS VEGAS (BVM) – Despite losing in the quarterfinals of “The Ultimate Fighter”, the UFC took on Texarkana, Arkansas, native Bryce Mitchell by giving him a contract.
In hindsight, it looks like one of the best decisions that the promotion has made in recent memory. Now 27 years old, Mitchell has turned into a fan favorite and a star in the Featherweight division.
Mitchell holds a 6-0 record since joining the UFC, putting together stellar performance after stellar performance, now ranking as the No. 9 featherweight.
He gained a lot of fans after his most recent victory, a decision win over Edson Barboza at UFC 272. While his performance was great, it was his post-fight generosity that boosted his likeability.
Following his win, he announced that he would be donating half of his winnings to ARCare, an Arkansas children’s charity that helps kids with medical conditions. The UFC decided to match Mitchell, adding up to a $90,000 donation.

March was the last time fans saw Mitchell and they are clamoring to know who he will take on next.
After a win in June over Dan Ige, No. 10 ranked Featherweight Movsar Evloev called out Mitchell, saying that would be the next fight to make. The 28-year-old Russian is also on the rise, having a 6-0 record since joining the UFC in April 2019.
This could be a matchup of two future stars in the division and makes a lot of sense for both sides.
Another option for Mitchell could be 35-year-old Chan Sung Jung. The UFC veteran is coming off of a championship loss to Alexander Volkanovski and may be looking to make a splash with a big win over the rising Arkansas star.
This may be a big jump for Mitchell, but at age 27, he is in a position to where he can take some chances with a bright future in front of him.
