Rex Ryan joins ‘The Amazing Race’ in upcoming season
NEW YORK (BVM) – For years, NFL coach Rex Ryan showed his competitive, fiery nature on the sidelines. Now, he will be doing so on “The Amazing Race.”
On Wednesday, CBS released the cast for the 34th season of the reality game show, and the 59-year-old former coach was a big surprise.

Ryan had been working for ESPN as an analyst, but it looks like his focus for the meantime will be elsewhere.
For those unfamiliar with the show, a dozen or so partners race around the world navigating through foreign areas and countries where they are given physical and mental tasks to advance. The winner of the show is rewarded with a prize of $1 million.
Ryan had an up and down coaching career, but had some high highs, including back-to-back AFC Championship appearances with the New York Jets in the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
He was also a member of the coaching staff on the 2000 Super Bowl Ravens team.
Following a six-year stint with the Jets, Ryan served as head coach for the Buffalo Bills for two seasons. He has not coached in the NFL since 2016.
Ryan has not officially announced his retirement from the coaching industry, but it does appear that he is taking a break from the football world for the time being.
Unfortunately his partner will not be his twin brother, Rob, and instead will be his friend, Tim Mann.
The two both live in Brentwood, Tennessee, and love to golf together according to Parade.com.
For people that watch the NFL, this will be must watch TV, regardless of interest in the show itself. Ryan was a journalist’s dream during press conferences and should provide some more entertainment on his path to a million dollars.
Other famous names alongside Ryan include Derek Xiao and Claire Rehfuss who were previously on “Big Brother.”
The new season will premiere on CBS on Sept. 21.
