Get to know Cambridge HS golfer Kaylin Simmons
MILTON, Ga. — Miss Kaylin Simmons is a “tee-rificly” well-rounded young lady. Simmons plays for the Cambridge High School Women’s Varsity Golf team. “My goal is to continue to play on my HS Varsity team this season. I want to continue to play in JR PGA tournaments, scoring well enough to remain #1,” exclaims Simmons. When she is not hitting a hole in one, she stays active in other ways.
Simmons is passionate about her faith, school and music. The diligent high school Senior just wrapped up her summer break working on college-level courses via Baylor University’s accelerated summer program. Moreover, Simmons volunteers with the youth ministry at local churches in our area. She is also musically talented and has an angelic voice. Additionally, she plays the piano and the guitar. She has also played JV soccer, ran Cross Country, and danced competitively.
Simmons shares a special bond with her father. He is also a golfer and played for a Division 1 college. As a seasoned golfer, her father has guided her in the sport. The talented father and daughter duo golfers spend quality time together on the rolling green hills. Simmons shows deep appreciation for her father’s guidance in the sport, “he’s taught me how to be a good sportsman and a team player. The most valuable advice he’s given is related to practice. You have to work hard and put in the time if you want to be a great golfer,” says Simmons.
What she shared next is what every parent looks forward to hearing. “My dad gives the best advice.” Those words are like melodic melodies to any parent’s ears. “I’ve been fortunate to grow up on the golf course with my dad, and I am so grateful that he took me along as often as possible. Much of that time was spent riding in the golf cart and/or shooting videos and dabbling in the game. But it was such an important start that I didn’t even realize it was happening. It was just spending time outside, being active with my dad,” she says.
Simmons describes herself as a ‘people person’ and has a very outgoing and bubbly personality. “You have to focus and pour into other people. When the people around you are happy and at their top game, you will realize you are happy and at your top game too,” she describes. Additionally, she wants others to know, “No matter what, always try your best, and even if you fail, keep trying. God sees your work, passion, and persistence.” Simmons has a bright future. She is a hard worker, passionate and persistent in all that she does.
