ESSEXVILLE, Mich. — A Q&A with Colin Sackrider who recently graduated from Essexville-Hampton Garber High School and will be playing baseball at Jackson College in the fall of 2023.

What are your personal goals and athletic dreams?
Colin Sackrider: My dream is the same as every kid who plays baseball, to play in the MLB. I am grateful to play at the next level in college this year and would like to continue playing.
What do you love about baseball?
Sackrider: Everything! I mostly love all the lifetime friendships I have made because of baseball over the years. I will cherish these memories and bonds I have created forever.
What do you enjoy outside of sports? How would you describe your personality?
Sackrider: Enjoy making people laugh! In high school, I was voted life of the party. I like to be outdoors, jet skiing, four wheeling, and having bonfires.
Describe a mistake you made and how you overcame it.
Sackrider: Swinging at a bad pitch, and clearing my head to continue the at bat. I know I made a mistake when swinging, I have to reset and refocus, get the mistake out of my mind. Always learn from your mistakes!
Best piece of advice received from a coach/mentor?
Sackrider: Always have good body language and a positive attitude. You could be the best player on the field, but if your attitude sucks no one – including coaches – will want you on their team. Be coachable!
