Get to know Fort Loramie QB, senior Caleb Maurer

FORT LORAMIE, Ohio — Friday night lights season is upon us, and we can’t wait to see what is in store for our local football teams in the upcoming season. This athlete has been playing the sport since junior high, and his passion for the game radiates on the field and beyond. Fort Loramie senior Caleb Maurer is an accomplished two-sport athlete who works hard to represent himself and his team in the best and most authentic way possible.

As the Quarterback of the Varsity football team, Maurer has taken on a position of leadership. His influence significantly impacts the dynamic of the team, and it’s a role he takes with great responsibility. Although the competitive nature of athletics can become overbearing and intense, Caleb emphasizes the importance of staying grounded.

“Treat people the way you want to be treated,” he says when asked what the best piece of advice he’s ever received was.

Caleb recognizes the importance of positive relationships within a team and knows that being kind to one another is key to establishing a solid foundation. Ultimately, this leads to a team’s success and ability to bounce back through the highs and lows of the season.

Throughout the course of his football career, Maurer has obtained various awards including 1st Team All-District and 3rd Team All-State. His favorite memory is when he and his team were victorious over Minster during his junior season.

While he’s had many great moments throughout his time as an athlete, Caleb has had some unexpected setbacks with various shoulder injuries. It’s a challenge that has been difficult to overcome, but he has prevailed. With lots of determination and perseverance, Maurer has been able to continue his athletic career and keep playing alongside his teammates.

He encourages young athletes interested in football to have fun, play hard, and enjoy every moment out on the field. You only get so much time to be a member of the team, so it’s important to make the most of it.

As he heads into his final season on the Fort Loramie football team, he’s hoping to make the most of every opportunity and enjoy the time he has left to play the sport he loves with his friends. And with basketball season just around the corner, Caleb is looking forward to getting back on the court for one last season with a Loramie jersey.

When he’s not playing sports, Caleb enjoys hanging out with his brother, Max, and spending time with friends. After high school, he hopes to attend college and become an elementary school guidance counselor. Our community is so excited to see what this talented student-athlete accomplishes in his senior season–both on the football field and the basketball court.
