EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. — Oak Ridge football has started the year with a bang. Through three weeks of play, they are 3-0 and have yet to allow a single point scored against them. The stellar Trojan defense is anchored by cornerbacks Sebastian Sutton and Dwight Martin, III, who have combined for six interceptions and three interceptions returned for touchdowns.
Offensively, the Trojans have had their way as well. Led by senior quarterback Maddox Varella, the Trojans have outscored their opponents 169-0. Varella is having an outstanding season so far, throwing for 579 yards and seven touchdowns at a 66.7% completion rate. His favorite target has been Sebastion Sutton, who as a receiver has 207 yards and a touchdown on nine catches. Behind Varella is an excellent contingent of running backs in Dwight Martin, III, and Jake Hall. Martin leads the team in rushing yards with 154 to Hall’s 131, but Hall leads in touchdowns, five to three. With the offense firing on all cylinders and a lights-out defense, the Trojans continue to march toward a playoff berth.
