Carlsbad alum Troy Glaus holds Angels record; Where is he now?

CARLSBAD, Calif. (BVM) – Troy Glaus is widely considered to be one of the best Angels players of all time. He also happens to be a Carlsbad High School alum.

Glaus made a huge impression during his time at Carlsbad, so much so that he was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the year he graduated (1994). But, Glaus turned down the opportunity to go pro and committed to UCLA instead. That decision would ultimately lead him to become a four-time All-Star, a World Series champion and an Angels single-season record holder.

Coming out of UCLA in 1997, Glaus signed a minor league contract with a $2.25 million signing bonus after he was picked third overall by the Angels. He made his Major League debut with the Angels in 1998 to mark the start of an illustrious MLB career.

Glaus was a key player in the 2002 World Series. He helped the Angels win their first world championship title in franchise history, so fittingly, he was named World Series MVP.

He would go on to play for the Arizona Diamondbacks (2005), Toronto Blue Jays (2006–2007), St. Louis Cardinals (2008–2009) and finally the Atlanta Braves (2010). In his 13-year career, Glaus’ batting average was .254 with 320 home runs and 950 RBI in 1537 games.

So, where is Troy Glaus now?

Glaus, now 46, made headlines earlier this month when Shohei Ohtani, who is the reigning AL MVP, tied Glaus’ record for the most multi-HR games in a season in Angels history. The record has been standing for over two decades; Glaus had six multi-HR games in the year 2000.

He’s also spent his recent years being an advocate for mental health. In early 2022, Glaus sat down with psychiatrist Daniel Amen to find ways to improve his overall brain health. Glaus noted different reasons as to why he wasn’t feeling his best — including that he had roughly 20-25 concussions during his playing years.

Nonetheless, this Carlsbad graduate has made more than just a name for himself as Celebrity Net Worth estimates Troy Glaus’ net worth to be $40 million. He’s no longer playing baseball, but he has been playing local golf in the Ocala circuit while supporting his competitive equestrian wife, Ann, and their son, Ty Glaus, who also plays baseball.
