Catching up with Farragut HS alum, baseball player Jaxson Pease

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Jaxson Pease started out playing many sports in his early years, but by the middle of elementary school he had turned his focus full-time to baseball. Fourteen years into the sport, Jaxson finished his senior year with the Farragut Admirals in May 2022 and is now playing at Tennessee Technological University this fall.

“My number one goal as an athlete is to win,” said Jaxson, “I love to win. I’m super competitive and I’m always looking to come out on top. As a pitcher, my biggest goal is to gain complete trust from my teammates that I will get the job done on the mound.”

Jaxson’s high school baseball coach taught him to learn from his failures and use them for growth. Jaxson had a close to perfect regular season on the mound his junior year, but lost his feel for his pitches in the state tournament and struggled to throw a strike. Jaxson felt defeated after his team lost, but he used those feelings to push him to work harder and become even better his senior year. His last season at Farragut, he went 10-0 and pitched a complete game win in the state tournament championship. “I got my redemption because I didn’t let failure make me crumble,” said Jaxson.

Being part of a baseball team has taught Jaxson how to be a leader and hold himself and other players accountable. As a pitcher, Jaxson finds it most important to let go of setbacks by moving on to the next pitch.

“The way I keep my composure during these times of adversity is by having a short memory,” said Jaxson. “Baseball is a very mentally challenging game, and I have to be able to move on and focus on the next play if I want to be successful.’
