Satellite HS football looking to build off last season’s success
SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. — Entering his first season, Satellite High School head coach Brian Helton has a new vision for a new team.
The Scorpions went 10-2 a year ago, falling to Merritt Island in the playoffs. The community of fans can agree that last year was an amazing season and are hoping to have the same outcome this year, making it further in the playoffs. “Our team has embraced my vision and has really worked hard over the summer to prepare for this season. This year’s team is made up of players of all skill levels which makes everyone work as a team, helping each other out as much as possible. All of the coaches are focusing on teaching the fundamentals as well as new skills, resulting in our players already being described as “well coached”, “disciplined” and “well executing!” Helton commented.
The team did lose a good amount of seniors, but there are key multiple players to watch this year.
Offense brings some very talented players this season, so watch out for Parker Dawson, Corbin Conley, Miles Henkell, Tristan White and Mark Hinkel (P.U.P.) Defense is Helton’s expertise and it showed in the past few seasons that he was Defensive Coordinator for Merritt Island. Defensive players like Tai Montinez, Ben Marrow, Gabe White, Nick Ramsey, Jonathan Veon, and Mitchell Barton will be working closely with Helton on learning his defensive schemes. There are also some up and coming players to watch also like Israel Montinez, Dylan Vigliotti, Harlan Peat, CJ Benson, and Ezra Engle.
The Scorpion’s schedule for the season brings six home games this year. The community is encouraged to support the Scorpion team by attending all of the games. It means the world to the players to hear the cheering and clapping from the sidelines and the stands!
