Get to know Buford HS alum, Ole Miss softball player Taylor Malvin
JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — This upcoming Spring, as football will have winded down and softball starts to pick up, be sure to turn on the SEC station to cheer on local Johns Creek resident Taylor Malvin, as she begins her college playing career at Ole Miss.
Taylor first picked up a bat when she was a mere eight years old. Through the years she also played competitive basketball, but eventually her passion and talent led her to focus solely on softball. She was a member of Georgia Impact and traveled all over to California, Florida, and Colorado, competing at the highest level with the team. As she graduated from River Trail Middle School, she decided to attend Buford High School and was a four- year starter there, as well as Team Captain.
Despite loads of talent through so much work and dedication, what is most impressive about Taylor is her “team-first” mentality and commitment. As Taylor states, her goal is to be the best teammate and player she can be. She has learned to be as happy for her teammate’s success as her own. She believes it makes the game so much more fun to compete every day with girls that have the same passion and energy she does. Her ultimate goal is to continue lifelong friendships while working hard and playing the sport she loves.
The best advice Taylor has been given is from Ole Miss Head Coach Jamie Traschel, who told her to be where your feet are. In a crazy fast world of being a student-athlete, Taylor can find herself getting overwhelmed, but taking a moment to appreciate the little things where she is now is so important.
Well Taylor, we are excited to follow where your steps take you and wish you luck in the upcoming season. Hotty Toddy!
