LIBERTY, Mo. — With the start of a new season upon them, the members of the Liberty Volleyball team are making a name for themselves through their hard work and commitment. After winning their first tournament in Orlando, Florida, the Lady Jays are ready to take on their season!
This will be Coach April Fleming’s 19th year on the coaching staff and 17th as head coach. This season she is looking forward to watching the seniors go out with a bang, as some of them have been a part of the team since they were freshmen. She enjoys spending time with the girls and watching them grow as players and individuals.
Senior setter Ashley Mullen’s favorite part about LHS Volleyball is all the connections she makes with her teammates. She enjoys playing with people that have the same goals and achievements in mind. She’s looking forward to seeing how far the team can go postseason. Next year Mullen plans to attend the University of California, Los Angeles, to continue her academic and volleyball career.
On the back row, senior libero and defensive specialist Phoenix St. Louis is looking forward to leaving it all on the court for her final season as a Lady Jay. She enjoys being a part of a team with high-level athletes because it pushes her to be a better player. St. Louis is not quite sure what her plans are for next year, but volleyball could be a possibility.
With their abundance of talent and dedication, the Lady Jays are bound to have a season for the books.
