Dave Logan embodies Wheat Ridge High School with Denver impact

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (BVM) – For 23 years, Dave Logan has been the voice of the Broncos. But his impact on the Denver community goes much deeper.

It started when Logan was a high schooler.

He grew up in the area, attending Wheat Ridge High School. In his final year, Logan won The Denver Post’s Gold Helmet Award. The award signifies the state’s top senior football player as well as off the field achievements.

While Logan excelled in football, it was much the same on the diamond and basketball court.

The Cincinnati Reds selected him in the 19th round out of high school, but Logan opted to attend the University of Colorado, where he would letter in both basketball and football.

In 1976 he was taken in the NFL Draft in the third round by the Cleveland Browns and in the NBA Draft in the ninth round by the Kansas City Kings.

Logan is one of six players that have been drafted in the NFL, NBA and MLB. That list includes Dave Winfield and Jo Jo White.

He ultimately decided to stick with football, playing for the Browns for eight years before finishing his career in 1984 in his hometown as a member of the Broncos.

He is seventh all-time in Browns’ history for receiving yards and tenth all-time in receiving touchdowns.

In 1990 Logan joined the radio booth for the Broncos and has been a mainstay since. Logan has also been a member of various radio shows in the Denver area.

Outside of his broadcast career, Logan is still hands-on with the game of football with his high school coaching career. He is currently at Cherry Creek High School where he resides as one of the best to ever do it in the state of Colorado.

Over the course of 29 seasons, Logan has won 10 state championships.

Logan does it simply for the love of the game, as he gives out his coaching salary to his assistants.

In 2000, Logan was inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame.

Whether it is over the radio or on the field on Friday nights, Logan continues to impact the next generation in Denver.
