Shedeur Sanders launches ‘#2 BBQ Sauce’ in latest NIL deal

JACKSON, Miss. (BVM) – Jackson State quarterback Shedeur Sanders is one of the top NIL earners in college football, and he has added to it with his latest deal. On Wednesday, it was announced that Sanders has launched his first retail product in association with PLB Sports & Entertainment: “#2 BBQ Sauce.”

The product has been described by Sanders as a thick, tomato-based, molasses-style sauce. Sanders was involved with the development and ingredients that were included in the sauce.

Sanders’ “#2 BBQ Sauce” will be sold at the Jackson State Bookstore and local Kroger grocery stores. Additionally, the sauce is also available online through PLB’s website.

Sanders becomes the latest to partner with PLB Sports & Entertainment, who has created various food products with athletes over the years, perhaps most notably Doug Flutie’s “Flutie Flakes.” In 2021, PLB Sports & Entertainment partnered with athletes like Nick Chubb, DeAndre Hopkins and Tyler Herro to make limited-edition products.

Meanwhile, Sanders adds to what is already an impressive portfolio of NIL deals. Sanders is ranked No. 7 by On3 when it comes to NIL earners in college football, and No. 11 in On3’s NIL 100 list with a valuation of $1.2 million. Previously, Sanders has signed deals with Gatorade, Beats by Dre and Brady Brand.

The son of Jackson State head coach and NFL legend Deion Sanders, Shedeur has also built an impressive social media following with 27,000 Twitter followers, 729,000 Instagram followers and 236,000 followers on TikTok, making him an excellent choice for new marketing deals.

While finding success off the field, Shedeur also continues to shine on the gridiron at Jackson State. Following a 2021 campaign in which Shedeur led the Tigers to a SWAC championship as he threw for over 3,000 yards and 30 touchdowns, Jackson State has begun the 2022 campaign a perfect 4-0 behind 1,381 passing yards, 14 touchdowns and a 75% completion rate from its quarterback.

Shedeur and the Tigers will look to continue their strong start to the season in their next contest against Alabama State on Oct. 8.
