Get to know Hamilton Mighty Football Factory youth player Charlie Curto

HAMILTON, Ontario — Charlie Curto has been playing flag football with the Hamilton Mighty Football Factory for a few years.

He began his love of football as a family season ticket holder, during the construction of Tim Hortons field. After every game, he loved going on the field as part of the ‘Families on the Field’ program that the Tiger Cats implemented. Although he started his football days as a receiver, his coaches quickly realized his value as a quarterback. He learned a lot about offensive plays while playing Madden on his XBox system.

As a quarterback, Charlie needs to know all the plays and be able to make sure that everyone is in the right position. Last year, his CYO junior flag football team won the A division championship while he was playing for his elementary school team, the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys are a co-ed, house league team.

The team had an explosive offence, and Charlie, and his teammate Max, were the dynamic duo. In the semifinal game, Charlie threw seven touchdown passes with Max catching five of them. This winning streak however, did not continue into his spring league as they lost their final contest by two points. After the game, Charlie congratulated all the players for a great season and he was already talking about defending his CYO championship in the fall!
