5 longest playoff droughts across all four major sports

5. Kansas City Royals and Pittsburgh Pirates, seven seasons (last appearances: 2015)

The fifth slot also has a tie and it also comes from MLB with the Royals and Pirates both missing out on the postseason over the past seven seasons. Kansas City has had a rough go since winning the 2015 World Series, going 443-587 (.430%). The best year for the team came immediately after the World Series campaign with an 81-81 record in 2016 while the worst came in 2018 when the team went 58-104. For the Pirates, they went 445-583 (.433%) in those years with the best season coming in 2018 with an 82-79 record and the worst coming in 2021 with a 61-101 record.
