The fifth edition of the Shamrock Series finally brought about a close contest, as the Fighting Irish got all they could handle from Arizona State at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Wearing all white with gold helmets, it was Rees shining in this third Shamrock Series game, throwing for 279 yards and three touchdowns. Kicker Kyle Brindza booted the game-winning field goal with three minutes left in the fourth quarter, allowing the 4-2 Irish to take down the No. 22 Sun Devils.
