LSU WR commit Kyle Parker sets Texas HS football record

LUCAS, Texas (BVM) — When a team has four DI caliber players at wide receiver, one could imagine how difficult it would be for one to stand out. However, Lovejoy High School’s Kyle Parker is rising above the rest, especially with his performance against Argyle High School on Sep. 3.

Parker caught 23 passes for 341 yards and three touchdowns during the Friday night matchup. It makes the third-most catches by a high school football player in Texas high school football history.

“It was a great game,” Parker told DFW Inside High School Sports. “[We] took a tough loss against a good Argyle team. I wouldn’t have been able to do without my teammates. Quarterback, coaches, the play calling, and everybody working together to get me those 23 catches.”

Overall this season, Parker has shown just how talented he is. During the team’s first six games, the senior wideout has recorded 42 catches for 532 yards and eight touchdowns.

However, it hasn’t just been about his start to his senior year.

As a junior, Parker caught 47 passes for 790 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. Doing this, Parker helped lead the Leopards to a 12-2 overall record. Unfortunately, they would fall to South Oak Cliff High school in the state playoffs.

Regardless of last year’s results, his output during his junior season and early in 2022 has inspired him and his teammates to finish their final season on a high note. His results inspired not only those around him but also major DI colleges like LSU, Oklahoma State, Texas, Arkansas, JSU and others.

With a plethora of interest, Parker decided to commit to LSU on June 23

Alongside his success on the football field, Parker has seen his athletic progress carry over to the track. In April 2022, Parker ran a 10.89 in the 100-meter dash. He also ran a 23.04 in the 200m dash.

“Kyle’s a special person,” Lovejoy head football coach Chris Ross told DFW Inside High School Sports. “He’s a great teammate, and he leads by encouraging, and then he also sets an example on the football field. And he’s an incredible competitor.”

In the meantime, Parker will do his best to boost his already impressive skill set and prepare for a championship season at Lovejoy and one could imagine how diligent Parker’s preparation has been. But one thing is for certain, Cabana is one of the best high school players in Texas and is on his way to having a rewarding athletic career
