Washington Township HS athletic trainer Dr. Eric Schwartz earns NJSCA Hall of Fame Induction

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Dr. Eric Schwartz, athletic trainer at Washington Township High School, has been named among the New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Association’s (NJSCA) 2023 Hall of Fame inductees. He will be honored at an induction ceremony in Princeton on January 15 — earning his spot as one of the top athletic trainers in New Jersey.

“Dr. Schwartz has continued to serve the needs of our Washington Township student-athletes over the past decade — providing them with excellent care and support,” said WTHS Athletic Director Kevin Murphy. “He is one of the top certified athletic trainers in New Jersey, consistently advocating on the state level for interscholastic athletic safety.”

Schwartz says he is truly honored to receive the prestigious NJSCA honor. “It is not just for me, it’s for all the wonderful professionals and student-athletes who I’ve worked with throughout my career,” he said. “I am extremely lucky to be surrounded by an amazing team of professionals that make these things possible.”

“The ability to help and provide athletic healthcare for WTHS student-athletes — from their lowest points to their highest achievements — is extremely rewarding,” Schwartz added. “I have the unique ability to see academic, personal, and athletic growth in our students, from freshman year to senior year. This is what keeps me returning year after year. I take great pride in providing our student-athletes with the greatest athletic training services possible.”

The Eastern Athletic Trainers Association’s 2020 Francis J. George Scholarship winner, Schwartz holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from East Stroudsburg University (1998), a master’s in health education from The College of New Jersey (1999), and a doctorate in athletic training from Moravian College (2020). He earned his athletic training certification in 1999.
