Batesville cross country teams make final push
BATESVILLE, Ind. — It was a pretty perfect morning for a 5K race as the Batesville High School cross country teams competed at the regional meet at Franklin Community High School.
The girls started off the morning and had four Bulldogs make the All Regional team by placing in the top 20 overall. They were seniors Ava Hanson and Sophie Myers placing 7th (19:41) and 9th (19:46), junior Megan Allgeier crossing at 11th (19:51) and freshman Lexiyne Harris in 19th place (20:31). Just missing the top 20th spot and finishing in 24th was Charlotte Trossman (20:47). Kaylie Raver was just behind her in 32nd (21:10) and finishing out the varsity top seven was Isabel Raab in 54th (22:40).
Overall as a team, the girls placed second behind the East Central Trojans (45-70). Other teams advancing to the semistate include Indian Creek (90), Franklin Community (93) and Center Grove (109).
The boys were not able to advance as a team, but Batesville had two individuals finish high enough overall, sophomores Jake Chapman (21st-17:26) and Isaac Trossman (23rd-17:28) to advance individually to Semi State competition.
Eli Loichinger was the third Bulldog to cross the line in 49th (18:10). Then Batesville had a pack of three in 64th (19:04), 65th (19:05) and 67th (19:08) with Cannon Clark, Deev Ranka and Cash Myers, respectively. Finishing out the top 7 for the Bulldogs was Paxton Harris is 79th (20:03).
Overall the boys placed 9th. The top 5 teams advancing from this meet are Indian Creek (75), Center Grove (96), Milan (104), Franklin Community (106) and Moorseville (121).
