Liberty YMCA youth gymnastics team members place at first meet
RINCON, Ga. — At the end of October, the Liberty Y gymnastics team had competed in their first gymnastics meet of the season, in Rincon Georgia. All 6 girls; Baylee Freeman, Marley King, Maya Patel, Kerrington Willis, Gracyn Ferry, and Kyleigh Beasley competed on four events; Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor.
Every single girl placed in their level and division.
Gracyn Ferry is a level 1 competitive gymnast and her favorite event is beam because she gets to work on her balance and improve her skills. She placed 1st on vault with a 8.575, as well as placing 2nd on the balance beam with 8.750, and 2nd on floor with a score of 9.025. Gracyn placed 1st overall in her division with a score of 34.8500.
Kerrington Willis is a level 1 competitive gymnast and her favorite event is bars because she is really good at it. She placed 1st on two events, bars with a score of 8.550, and floor with a score of 9.275. Kerrington also placed 2nd on beam with a score of 8.500. Kerrington then went on to place 1st in her overall level and age group with an all around score of 34.5250.
Baylee Freeman is our level 1 gymnast who is also brand new to the competition world of gymnastics. Her favorite event is vault because she gets to run very fast. Baylee placed 3rd on vault with a score of 8.300 and 3rd on floor with a score of 8.600. Baylee placed 5th overall with a score of 31.200 in her division.
Kyleigh Beasley is a level 2 competitive gymnast who has never competed in gymnastics before. However, her favorite event is bars because this is something she excels at and comes easily to her. Kyleigh had placed in the top 5 for bars, placing 4th on bars with a score of 8.700, 5th on beam with a 8.400, and placed 4th overall in her level and age group with a score of 34.4500.
Maya Patel is our level 2 competitive gymnast, her favorite event is floor because she gets to show her personality through her routine. She is also new to the competition team and has never competed in gymnastics before. Maya placed in the top 5 for vault with a score of 8.650. Overall, Maya placed 9th in her level/ division with an all around score of 33.5000 out of 40.
Marley King, our level 2 competitive gymnast, favorite event is floor because it can showcase her characteristics as well as skills. She placed 1st on bars with a score of 9.025 out of 10 and ended up placing 2nd overall with an All Around score of 35.0500 out of 40.
