Get to know Bradshaw Mountain HS volleyball player Mikayla Buckwalter

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — From the minute I touched a volleyball in 5th grade I have loved the sport with everything in me. Throughout life volleyball has been my escape from real life. I have gained my best friends in each year of playing. Sports create such a huge difference in a person’s life and I can say wholeheartedly that volleyball made me who I am today.

Juggling sports and academics is never easy but I managed to keep my grades steady throughout all my years. In my years of playing for Bradshaw Mountain High school.  I have primarily been a libero or a DS.

As a girl that is 5’1 there are not many options for me so thankfully, I love being a libero. My love for passing and defense has grown deeper with each coach I have in high school.

My family has been my one true supporter since day one. They would wake up at 3 am every weekend just to drive me to my tournaments. Not only that,  they have always shown me the positive side in each and every game. Even after I would have bad game they would comment on the good things I did and tell me how amazing I am. Reflecting back on my years of volleyball I am saddened to leave my sport behind once I graduate, but I can truly say I had the best years of my life playing volleyball and hope to continue my passion elsewhere.
