SMU Pom Squad ready for new season
DALLAS — The SMU Pom Squad is well known for their performances on the sidelines and at halftime during football games. Prior to all home football games, the SMU Pom Squad also participates in pregame festivities along the Boulevard including photo ops and a parade. They also perform at basketball games. 2022 has been an exciting year for the SMU Pom Squad! Lots of positive changes have been brought to us with the addition of two new coaches, as well as a new interim Spirit Director. This fresh leadership is taking this team to new heights!
Emily Sullivan, former captain of the LSU Tiger Girls, is the Squad’s new director. Ms. Sullivan said, “Excited doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel about having the opportunity to coach the SMU Pom Squad. Dance is a huge passion of mine, but the ability to inspire and empower a team of young women is what I’m most looking forward to.”
Morgan Peterson, the squad’s new Assistant Director, is a former SMU Pom Squad captain. She said, “coming back to join the staff for the SMU Pom Squad this year is both exciting and nostalgic as I get to reminisce on my time on the team while also helping to develop the team as individuals both on and off the field!”
Mary Dill Krow is SMU Pom Squad’s Interim Spirit Director. She graduated from SMU and is proud to call herself a Pony! After college, she spent two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, earning “Rookie of the Year” and a spot on the elite DCC show group.
Liliann Devos, four-year veteran said, “This year we have grown so much as a team, developing a signature style, a presence on campus, and level of excellence that I see extending far into the future. I feel lucky to be part of a year that is truly setting the tone for the future of the program!”
Eliana Shephard, current SMU Pom Captain, stated that, “The Pom Squad has transformed tremendously since I was a freshman and has doubled in size over the past three years. Every year the selection process becomes more competitive. I can’t wait to see all that we accomplish in the next couple years.”
Lydia England, second year veteran and PR Manager for the SMU Pom Squad, said, “The moment that Emily stepped into the role as head coach, I knew that she had a vision to take our team to new heights. With the strong leadership of our three new coaches, the sky is the limit!”
The SMU Pom Squad cannot wait to see you at the next home game. PONY UP!
