School: McQueen High School

Grade/Year: 12th Grade/ Seniors

Sports: Tennis, Golf

Years in current sport: two seasons

Team/s: McQueen High School Doubles Tennis Team

Breaking News: Trevor and Wyatt were named doubles team of the year while their coach, Jeff Richards, was named coach of the year.

What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?

Trevor Games: My personal goals are to stay with the sport so I can play anytime I want, or I could even teach my kids how to play it too.

Wyatt Games: My personal goals within my sport are to always have fun with it no matter the challenge and continue it through my adult life.

What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage this challenge?

Trevor: The biggest challenge within tennis is the mental part. Out of our duo, I usually get the most frustrated when a shot goes wrong. I manage it by just breathing and thinking about the next point, which usually helps me get rid of the frustration.

Wyatt: The biggest challenge in my sport is to try and keep a good attitude when playing with my partner – even if we aren’t doing well. I manage that by staying positive and looking for the next shot.

What was the best advice you were ever given?

Trevor: Just play your game and have fun with it.

Wyatt: To just play our game and not try and change it.

What do you love about your sport?

Trevor: What I love about tennis is how easy it is to pick up and have fun with it and how enjoyable it can be when playing it right. I also enjoy the aspect of getting to play it for the rest of my life.

Wyatt: I love that it is a very fun team sport, and you develop a connection with your team.

Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?

Trevor: My pregame ritual is one quick sip of water, warm-up on the left side, and absolutely no warm-up of serves because we don’t want to reveal our serves to the other team.

Wyatt: I actually don’t have a pregame ritual.

What do you like to do outside of your sport?

Trevor: I like to hang out with my brother and our dog, Pepper, play golf, and watch football.

Wyatt: Outside of my sport, I like to watch football and play Wiffle ball in our backyard with my brother.

What has being a member of a team taught you?

Trevor: How to enjoy a game while still being competitive. We had so much fun this year playing the sport while also having fun with our teammates.

Wyatt: It has taught me how to have fun with our teammates at away and home games.

What is the best piece of advice you received from a coach or mentor?

Trevor: The best advice I have received is from a mentor, my mom. She says that attitude is everything, and that really resonated with me. On the courts, when I am having a rough day, I can always think about that, and it gets me in the right mindset.

Wyatt: Our coach would always say, “Just play our game.”

Describe a mistake you made while competing and how you overcame it.

Trevor: While competing, when I get mad at my brother, it does nothing but hurt us. I overcame it with the brotherly bond we share. We just talk it out and figure out what actually went wrong versus what happened in my head.

Wyatt: A mistake I made was getting upset over missed shots at my brother. We had to communicate and get our heads back in the match. Our twin bond really helps there.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Trevor: We had a great coach who allowed us to play our game which made it a lot of fun.

Wyatt: This was the most fun season we have had.
