Holland Christian HS boys soccer team wins MHSAA Division 3 championship
HOLLAND, Mich. — For the first time since 2003, the Holland Christian High School boys varsity soccer team has won the MHSAA Division 3 boys soccer championship for 2022.
On Saturday, November 5, at Comstock Park High School near Grand Rapids, the Maroons scored two goals—an unexpected one from senior defender Derek Huisman (his first, last, and only career goal!) and another from Michael Pierce—to overcome Gross Ile 2-0 to win the championship.
Led by Coach Dave DeBoer, the Holland Christian varsity boys soccer team finished their season with a 20-1-3 record, including 18 shutout games…certainly a coup for senior goalkeeper Daniel Morgan, who earned the 34th shutout of his career.
Congratulations, Maroons!
