Urbana youth football team completes undefeated season

FREDERICK, Md. — The 2022 season of the Mountain Valley Youth Football League (MVYFL) had ended and the last standing youth varsity team remaining undefeated was the Urbana Hawks.  This phenomenal team, led by head coach Jay Cross, and Abu Sesay, Jason Mahaney, Jeff Angel, Jermaine Green, Todd Warwick, Krystal Angel, were 11-0, and had a season unmatched by their rivals.

Urbana’s youth varsity team has come together on and off the field to create one of the strongest teams in the past ten years.  From the nearly impenetrable five-man offensive front to their devastating defensive line, the Hawks know how to win in the trenches. They are just as talented at the skill positions and it shows in their scoring margin through all games this season.  They’ve outscored their opponents 389-60. The Hawks don’t only rely on a few key players either. They have a wealth of talent and depth on both sides of the ball and have demonstrated this fact in their ability to overcome injuries throughout the year without breaking stride.  They have an intangible chemistry hard to describe and a bond between players that translates both on and off the field, which is a rarity.

This was their year. Stay tuned for what they accomplish at Urbana High School.
