Q&A with Greenall HS multi-sport athlete Kaden Bzdel
BALGONIE, Saskatchewan — Kaden Bzdel is a grade 12 student at Greenall High School. He recently completed his final season with the Griffins football team and is currently a point guard on the school’s basketball team.
It is football where Keaden hopes to continue his sporting career. He is a receiver/defensive back and was one of the top kickers in the Regina Intercollegiate Football League. He helped lead the Griffins to a 5A City Championship. He will be attending winter camps with the Regina Thunder in February.
We sat down with Kaeden for a Q & A.
What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?
Kaden Bzdel: My dream is to continue my play after high-school and play at the highest level possible.
What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage this challenge?
Bzdel: Taking care of previous injuries I faced in the past. I managed my injuries with physiotherapy, certain exercises, and stretching.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
Bzdel: Fear has killed more dreams than failure ever will.
What do you love about your sport?
Bzdel: The people I get to meet and spend time with that I consider family.
Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?
Bzdel: Mental visualization. Visualizing my job on the field.
What do you like to do outside of your sport?
Bzdel: I like to spend time with family and friends.
What has being a member of a team taught you?
Bzdel: It has taught me leadership, responsibility, and how to work together with the people around you.
What is the best piece of advice you received from a coach or mentor?
Bzdel: If you’re not sore tomorrow morning, you’re not trying hard enough.
Describe a mistake you made while competing and how you overcame it.
Bzdel: Missing assignments on the field is a big mistake I made. Putting in overtime and going through mental reps was how I overcame it.
