Salming wore Toronto’s blue jersey for 16 years. He accumulated 768 total points (148 goals and 620 assists). Salming was also one of the first European players to succeed in the NHL as a six-time All-Star.
Salming’s legacy was solidified when the Leafs retired his No. 21 jersey. He still holds the team record for most career points by a defenseman. He was the first Swedish (and European) player to enter the Hockey Hall of Fame.
