Meet Dothan girls soccer players, siblings Dallas and Brenna Pfister

DOTHAN, Ala. — The average number of children under 18 per family is 1.93 (statista.com, 2021). Lindsey and Nathan Pfister didn’t pay attention to that average. They are the parents of five under 18! Two of the five attend Dothan High School and are integral parts of the girls’ soccer team. Dallas is a senior and Brenna is a sophomore and both light up when they talk about their love for soccer and the Wolves upcoming season.

Dallas started playing at age five and Brenna at age six. When asked what they liked most about the sport, Dallas said, “I just like playing with a team.” Brenna said the main thing for her is the competitiveness of the sport. She likes competing against other teams, but even likes the competition for the various positions on her own team. She said,  “There will be a fight for every position on the team this year.”

The Wolves will open up their season on February 3 against 7A rival, Auburn. Dallas said, “This year I feel very confident that we will do well. We have talented people for each position, and we have a lot of depth.” The team will have seven seniors plus several underclassmen that have experience. Both Pfister’s played on the varsity team last year. Brenna played as a midfielder and Dallas has consistently seen action as a center-back. Both believe that the conditioning program implemented by Coach Haley Williams will be the key to their success. The program sounds intense. A typical week looks like this..Monday is agility drills, Tuesday includes a 3-mile run,  Wednesday is ball drills and Thursday is long sprints . Dallas said, “Competitiveness and pushing each other builds the team chemistry.” Both girls have learned that  good conditioning  builds physical toughness and mental toughness.

The new season will bring a new home field for the Wolves, Rip Hewes Stadium. The turf stadium is now a regulation soccer field. Brenna said, “We are so excited about playing at the stadium. I love that it is turf and the scoreboard and the lights and all the stuff.” Dallas added, “Our goal is to win state and that is what we will focus on. And when things get hard, we will just remember our goal.” Go Lady Wolves! We hope you reach your goal!
