Ronald Ollie of ‘Last Chance U’ returns to pro football

EDMONTON, Canada (BVM) – Former “Last Chance U” star Ronald Ollie never gave up on his football dreams and it all paid off on Monday. Ollie, who was last released by the Toronto Argonauts in July of 2021, is now signed with the CFL’s Edmonton Elks.

The 6-foot-2, 310-pound defensive lineman was more recently pursuing off-field passions which included music and podcasting. At the same time, his future in football was uncertain.

“I’m working so hard to get to this place and I’m dedicating myself and my life to this place and it’s just like boom, it’s not the reason you’re supposed to be working here,” Ollie said in his “Let’s Talk About It” podcast, where a snippet was posted on his TikTok in August. “Now, what did I do wrong?”

A user under Ollie’s TikTok post commented, “You killed your own career,” to which Ollie responded with, “You think I’d do something like that to myself?”

Fans of “Last Chance U” often remind the 26-year-old that he didn’t live up to the hype of what everyone wanted him to be in the NFL. As Ollie questioned where things went wrong, he focused on the uplifting comments on his socials that told him to keep going and never give up.

Ollie’s overall career shows that he doesn’t give up easily. He started his collegiate career at East Mississippi Community College (2014-15) and went on to play at Nicholls State (2016, 2018) before going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft. He attended training camp with the Raiders but was released after an injury in 2019. Finally, he signed with the Toronto Argonauts in 2020 (COVID-19 canceled the season) and was released before the start of the following season.

It’s been quite a few years since Ollie played on a professional football team. But, he could very much have the comeback that fans are rooting for.
