Most rushing touchdowns by NFL QBs in a single season

12 – Steve Grogan, New England Patriots, 1976

The 20-year rushing scores by a quarterback record held by Rote was broken in 1976 by Grogan when he rushed for 12 scores in just 14 games. The second-year Patriots QB was more successful on the ground than through the air as his 1,903 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and 20 interceptions don’t look as pretty as his 397 rushing yards and 12 scores. The Patriots were strong however, using their punishing rushing attack to go 11-3 and make the playoffs, though they’d fall to the Oakland Raiders in the divisional round 24-21. Grogan’s record would stand for nearly 40 years.
