Bearden soccer player Brinley Murphy awarded Heisman High School Scholarship
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Bearden local athlete, Brinley Murphy, will bring her talent to the SEC’s champion, the University of South Carolina’s Women’s Soccer team, in 2023.
Brinley’s collegiate journey includes Bearden college counselor Ms. Susan Bolinger. She has gotten to know Brinley as an all-around student. Ms. Bolinger says of Brinley, “she’s got some really great accolades, but more importantly, she’s just a great young lady.”
Ms. Bolinger put her confidence in Brinley into action when she nominated her for a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by the Heisman Trophy. The Heisman High School Scholarship extends the Heisman prestige to our nation’s most esteemed seniors. This honor is about more than athletics alone. It is for student-athletes who understand victories are found off the field as on.
Brinley has been named the 2021-22 Tennessee Gatorade Girls Soccer Player of the Year; she’s been a constant in All-State, All-Region, and All-District. She’s been recognized multiple times as MVP, leading her team to two state champion wins. She’s decided to bring her athletic talent to the University of South Carolina, where she plans on pursuing pre-med courses.
