1. Austin Carr, 1968-71
A first-team All-American guard during his senior season in 1970-71, Carr has a long list of accolades and records. In addition to his All-American honors, Carr was the 1971 National Player of the Year. He scored the most points per game in Notre Dame history with 34.6 and is the single-season scoring leader with 38.1 points per game. Carr’s career scoring average ranks second in NCAA history, and he averaged 43.1 points per game in the NCAA Tournament, the most in its history. Carr also holds the tournament record for most points in a tournament game with 61 against Ohio in 1970.
