Ranking the top 10 Dallas Mavericks players of all time
10. Brad Davis (1980-1992)
Davis is one of the original Mavericks, joining the team in their inaugural season after stints with the Lakers, Pacers and Jazz. Once he got to Dallas, the 6-foot-3 point guard’s play became much more consistent, as he averaged double-digit scoring in each of his first five seasons with the Mavs, and helped lead the franchise to multiple playoff appearances in its young existence. A fan-favorite during his time in Dallas, Davis ended his NBA career in 1992 with averages of 8.2 points, 4.9 assists and 1.8 rebounds, and was the first Mavs player to have their number retired. While he was recently passed by Luka Doncic, Davis still sits eighth all time on the Mavs’ scoring list with 7,623 career points, and is also second in franchise history in assists (4,524), and sixth in steals (712).
