Meet the Hugo wrestlers of the White Bear HS team

Meet the Hugo wrestlers of the White Bear HS team

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. — 

Christian Carlson

Age: 15

Christian has been wrestling since he was in kindergarten. He wrestles all year round and also attends Pinnacle and Body Rejuvenation in Roseville, MN. He has wrestled for the WBL HS Varsity Team since eighth grade and loves the adrenaline rush. “You have to be both mentally and physically strong,” said Christian. One of his favorite memories is going to Malecek Wrestling Camp after the season has ended.

Isaac Kolstad

Age: 16

Isaac is in his seventh year of wrestling and is currently on the Varsity Wrestling Team, making the team in eighth grade. Last year, he won All-Conference and placed third in sections. He enjoys the challenge of wrestling and how the sport pushes him to be his best. Being driven, disciplined, tough and resilient are the qualities he believes makes a good wrestler. Isaac looks forward to going to a State Meet.

Porter Cleary

Age: 16

Porter has been wrestling for two years and is on the Varsity Team. He thinks mental toughness is an essential quality to have in wrestling. Being a part of a team has taught him to put the team in front of himself. His favorite memories are the out of town tournaments.

Nolan Rooney

Age: 15

Nolan is in his first year of wrestling for the JV Team and has played football for the past three years. He enjoys the physical challenge of wrestling and being part of a team. Having a tough mindset and stamina to never slow down are the qualities he believes makes a good wrestler. Being a member of a team has taught him there is always room to improve and push, and help your teammates to succeed together.

Adam Napgezek

Age: 16

Adam has wrestled with the JV Team for a year and won two out of five matches so far this season. He enjoys taking his opponents to the ground and remembers his first pin, along with winning all three rounds. His goals moving forward with wrestling are to win half of his matches.

Charlie Racine

Age: 16

This is Charlie’s first year wrestling for the JV Team and likes how the coaches push them to do their best. He thinks putting effort into your sport is important. Being a part of a team has taught him you can do anything. He hopes to keep improving his wrestling skills.

AJ Kringle

Age: 15

AJ has been wrestling for a year with the JV Team. He enjoys wrestling because it is a unique sport. He believes you need to have a quick reaction time and good coordination to succeed in this sport. He has learned that as wrestlers he and his teammates are all going through the same thing.

Ryen Kinde

Age: 15

Ryen is on the WB Varsity Team and has been wrestling for the past five years. He enjoys the bonds he makes with his team and growing stronger in the sport with them. Being a member of the team has taught him to always be your best when you are at your lowest.
