Nathaniel Hackett fired: Who will be Broncos’ 2023 head coach?
DENVER (BVM) – Heading into the 2022-23 NFL season, the Denver Broncos thought a trade for star quarterback Russell Wilson and the hiring of first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett would lead to the team’s first playoff trip since 2015. But, not even one year later, the Broncos are parting ways with their freshly hired head coach following a disastrous 4-11 record. With an inability to get the offense moving throughout the 2022 campaign and multiple sideline skirmishes during the year featuring players from both the offense and defense, the writing on the wall for Hackett seemed to become clearer by the week.
Senior assistant coach Jerry Rosburg, who was brought on to help aid Hackett with clock management, will serve as interim head coach for the franchise. While any new coach will certainly be tasked with unlocking their franchise quarterback, the Broncos will have to decide whether they want to try their hand at another first–year candidate, or go down the road of someone with experience. Either way, any new head coach will be entering a franchise that is desperately in need of a new voice and new culture.
Here are the top 5 head coaching candidates for the Denver Broncos’ opening.
