Landing in South Bend remains the most likely scenario for Hartman who is looking to bring his talents to a premier program. Hartman’s career passing yards at Wake Forest would top the Irish’s all-time passing leaders and would immediately give the program the kind of talent they haven’t had at the position since Brady Quinn. With this year’s opening starter, Tyler Buchner, sustaining an injury early on in the season, Notre Dame found itself once again in flux on the offensive side of the ball. Along with questions surrounding Buchner’s role in 2023, backup quarterback, Drew Pyne, transferred earlier this month to Arizona State. Reeling in one of the portal’s top targets would give Marcus Freeman just the kind of splash his program needs as he tries to get his offense to take the next step.
