Who will be Wisconsin’s starting quarterback in 2023?
Myles Burkett
Already spending a year at Wisconsin, Burkett will return in 2023 potentially as the early favorite to earn the starting quarterback role. Many Badger fans expected to see Burkett get at least some action in the team’s bowl matchup against Oklahoma State, but instead Wolf got all of the reps. As a result, it is still a mystery as to exactly what Burkett will bring to the table at the college level, as he only saw action in two blowout non-conference games early in the season, completing 4-of-5 passes for 84 yards against New Mexico State in September. However, what is clear is that Burkett has plenty of upside, evidenced by a brilliant career at Franklin High School. As a senior, the quarterback was named Wisconsin’s Gatorade Player of the Year and led his team to a perfect 14-0 state championship season, throwing for 3,427 yards, 36 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Burkett threw for nearly 6,500 yards and ran for over 1,000 yards in his high school career. As a dual-threat guy who is also a pure passer, Burkett could be a nice fit in Longo’s offense which groomed freshman Drake Maye into a near Heisman candidate at North Carolina this season.
