6. Venus Williams ($12.1 million) 

After playing in just four tournaments this year, Venus currently sits at No. 1,000 on the world rankings – so just $.1 million of her $12.1 million earnings are from on-the-field earnings. Venus’s celebrity status has kept her in the top 10 of the highest earners year after year. She’s done several paid appearances and more recently executive produced a movie called, “Game, Set, Love.” 

Venus will continue to play professional tennis while taking on other ventures. But, things are starting to slow down for the tennis legend. 

“[I am talking] about my life with chronic illness, specifically Sjogren’s syndrome,” Venus said on her YouTube channel in June. “My life has been affected by this in multiple ways, and struggling to stay on top of my game has been a daily struggle for me.”
